After weeks of slaving away trying to get points for this competition, a little birdie tells us that Ryan has over 400 points!!!

WHAT?!?!

Is it a rumor made up to scare us and make us loose hope and stop trying? Or has he really created some techie machine to invite everyone!!

I think its time for some friendly sabotage from the product interns

Snacking Increases Productivity

Here we are posing after our amazing feat of strength, intellect, and courage.
Hillary and Stephanie (Product Interns Extraordinaire) are extremely proud to announce that they have consumed an ENTIRE box of Chewy Granola Bars not once, not twice, but THREE times in the past month... (ok..ok...so maybe Jennifer ate one out of that last box)

Suspicions...

As you well know, we over here on the product side have been dutifully keeping our massive viewing audience well-informed of our statistics throughout the big Intern Contest. However, despite verbal reminders from the product interns, the dev interns, a.k.a. the Nerdlets, have yet to post their statistics....Are they trying to hide their stats from us? Have they not started yet? Are they busy building a robot to auto-invite the entire population of the Continental US? Could they be intimidated by our astronomically high numbers? So if any Nerdlets are reading this right now: COME OUT OF HIDING YOU PANSIES! just kidding!!

...but really, how many points do you have??

Meanwhile, the product interns guesstimated the point scale to come up with a closer approximation of their scores. The estimations are as follows:
Jennifer: 153
Hillary: 106
Stephanie: 101

Stay tuned for news of our mission to infiltrate enemy lines to get their data....

Love always,
The Product Interns (Hillary, Stephanie and Jennifer)

Contest Update!!!

After a week, the intern contest is still in full swing!! The Facebook ShareThis group has now grown to 317 members!!

The scores are as follows:
Stephanie - 96 (ish)
Hillary and Jennifer - tied at 62!! its going to be a tough battle between these two!
Ryan, Mike and Joel -??? don't think they've started yet...

BUT WAIT! There's a catch!! The interns only get one point for every friend who joins their group, but they get 5 points for every friend who registers with an account at sharethis.com and 10 points for those who import their contacts to make their own address book. So watch out Stephanie!!!

Part Two: Revenge of the Talking Laptop

As promised, here it is! The other day, as most of the Product Team was in Suite 10 downstairs in a meeting, Hillary was dancing away at Irish Dance Camp, and Jennifer was MIA, my laptop began eating everything in sight! Water bottles, papers, chairs, anything!

GOTCHA! My laptop did not actually begin to eat things. Instead, it seems that Manu and Jeremy were partners in crime in this little scheme. Manu was the genius behind the idea, yet Jeremy was the executer. In response to them, I have but one word to say: karma.

Intern Contest

Yesterday morning the interns were presented with the challenge of a lifetime: Get all of their friends to download the button AND import their contacts! On August 6th, the intern who has recruited the most friends will be presented with an iPod Touch!

The product interns quickly moved to send out mass invitations to the ShareThis Facebook group, while the nerdlets went old-school and sent out personalized emails.

As of 4:34 on Wednesday July 9th, the score for the product interns stands thus:

Stephanie: 78
Jennifer: 41
Hillary: 44

Watch out Stephanie, an upset could be in the very near future... :)

Ice cream is delicious!

After a huge semi rolled up Miami Ave today, Mike, Joel, and I set out on an escapade to Krogers to hunt down and feast on the softest and creamiest ice cream we have access to... Premium Homemade. Using Prod spoons (which broke easily under pressure) we three spotting lads carved the cream out of two pints of ice cream: Gormet Vanilla Chocolate and Peanut Butter N'Chip (the latter being the most delicious). After a extremely satisfying afternoon snack, we were well-prepared to re-engage our projects with re-inforced energy and enthusiasm. One lesson from this experience? "Ice cream is da bomb."

Near Death Experience

So in Nicaragua we went to this volcano called Masaya which is supposedly "inactive".....well its not!!! We all walked up to a really high peak and then all of a sudden the ground starts shaking and gases start billowing..eruption!! We all had to run to our bus..which btw was far away...Although our escape was hindered by our slow moving chaperone, we still were unharmed and even got a nice story about us in the Nicaraguan newspaper.

Mad TV Can I Have Your Number?

can i HAVE it?!?!

Part One: Tale of the Talking Laptop

So we are rounding out the end of our third week here at ShareThis and it is only fair that our coworkers play a practical joke on the new interns. Of course, it was played on me: the ever innocent, politely refined Stephanie Kenning. As I was working on a PowerPoint Presentation (the Product Interns' Specialty), a few of us were casually chatting about the type of music we liked. All of the sudden, my laptop joined in the conversation saying "I prefer techno." I was astounded! The comment certainly gave Hillary and I a fright, but we decided to ignore it. We continued our conversation, discussing the destination of lunch when my laptop suggested going to "City Barbecue." This was too weird! Instead of ignoring it this time, I took action! I went straight to Manu's office. Stay tuned for part two: Revenge of the Talking Laptop.

Intern Humor

This made us laugh the other day, so we thought we'd share it with our millions of readers...
BACON IS COOL!

A Sneak Peek!

Here's a little taste of our upcoming series of short films!

Scene 1: Add the button for users

Carrie: (on phone) Ohmigosh girl, I’m trying to email you this super-cool pic, but it’s not working! (frustrated sigh). Omg! This is mass annoying!

flash to Supersharer in ShareCave. He is watching the drama unfold via webcam.

Supersharer: This sounds like a job for…SUPERSHARER!

flies to the scene

Is there a problem here, miss?

Carrie: I need to email my BFF Jill this cute picture, but it’s not working!

Supersharer: Don’t worry, take a deep breath. I’ll have this mess cleaned up in a jiffy!

First, go to www.sharethis.com and click “get the button.” Then, run the installation process. It’s as simple as that.

Adds button, dramatic music in background.

Carrie: Thanks supersharer!

Supersharer: Anytime, Carrie. Beeper flashes. Uh oh! Gotta run…

Flash to the evil villain, “Copy-and-paste man”. He is tying a damsel in distress to the railroad tracks.  Super sharer saves the day to the tune of some more dramatic music.

Manu sat on what?

I was sitting at my desk on friday, working on the facebook app project when a crisis erupted. From all directions we heard cries of "Manu crashed the kiwi! Manu crashed the kiwi!". Not being a technology expert, I was extremely confused. Did Manu sit on a small fruit? Are they singing some sort of aboriginal folk song? Did Manu crash into someone's car that they named kiwi? We soon learned that kiwi is the name of one of our servers, alleviating our confusion. It is evident we still have a lot to learn about technology... :)
Hey! so this has been a fun week! Sharing is cool!

our first week

So today is friday, and we just finished our first week as ShareThis Interns. We learned a lot about the ins and outs of the company and got to start some projects. On Monday, we got a tour and started our sales pitches. On Wednesday we started a project for a possible Facebook application for ShareThis. On Thursday we made our sales pitches to www.foodnetwork.com (aka JB, LJ, Dave, Jeremy and Russ). Today we came up with some guerilla marketing strategies for ShareThis and Jennifer got to try Regression Testing for the first time. All in all, it was a very exciting week, and we are looking forward to the rest of the summer.
